Keyanna Benson is my cousin, and I have learned so much by simply watching her live her life to the fullest. She is the epitome of growth and a woman’s ability to continuously raise the bar for herself, proving that it is never too late to change for the better. Keyanna is a 35 year old wife, mother and career woman. She thrives on positive energy, planting positive seeds and watching them grow. She married her middle school sweetheart in 2017 and they are parents to KJ (2), Kali (6), and their angel baby, Kaiden (9).
Before becoming a wife and mother, playing by her own rules and having very little respect for authority was getting Keyanna nowhere fast. As a young adult struggling to find herself and battling mental health, she learned the hard way many times before getting her life together. Her choices landed her in jail, on probation, paying fines, and judge mandated attendance in AA/NA, and therapy.
But through all this God had a plan for Keyanna. With her support system and through therapy she was able to unpack years of trauma and learn healthy coping skills to forge a better way of life. Becoming a wife and mother has renewed purpose in her life, but her career as a registered respiratory therapist has shown her how privileged she is.
Raised to value hard work and family by her parents, Keyanna graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in 2018. She now works as an adult critical care respiratory therapist, planting positive seeds and watching them grow with each patient she encounters. Through her patients she understands just how precious life is and thanks God for the privilege to awake to another healthy day.
