Planning your wedding is one of life’s most joyful and meaningful times! But without organization it can quickly become overwhelming. Staying organized doesn’t just help you keep track of tasks but it helps you maintain space for creativity, reduces stress, and ensures that your wedding is a true reflection of you. Keep reading as I share the resources that kept me organized and stress-free while planning my wedding, I hope they help you too!
Multi-Pocket folders:
I used multi pocket folders to organize hard copies of all vendor contracts, payment receipts, and mock ups. Although we live in a digital world communications and confirmations can easily get deleted or become misplaced in an inbox. I’m of the opinion that when it comes to planning something as intricate as a wedding, it’s a good idea to have hard and digital copies of everything.
Planner:
I’m already a type A girly who does not go anywhere without her planner, and wedding appointments were no exception. I continued to use my planner to write down interviews with vendors, appointments with vendors and dress shops, and deadlines for myself and vendors. Studies show that using a written calendar versus a digital one positively contributes to your memory and the likelihood of you keeping appointments. If you are not a planner girly I highly encourage you to start, bride-to-be or not.
Google drive:
When planning my wedding I created a Google drive folder that housed all things wedding. This is where I kept digital copies of mockups, vendor contracts, receipts, links, and an excel sheet of our wedding guest list. My favorite thing about this method is that I could share it with those who needed the information. I shared my wedding Google drive folder with my husband, my mom and my mother-in-law, and my wedding planner. This way if anyone needed any information they could access it. I would caution you to be careful about who has access to your wedding Google drive folder should you choose to use this method. My advice is that if they are not getting married, paying for the wedding, or planning the wedding, they don’t need access.
Zola or wedding website:
I love wedding websites because they make communication efficient and it’s environmentally friendly, helping you save or completely eliminate postage. Anytime someone had a question about our wedding, whether it was the color scheme, dates, host hotels, the menu, I directed them to our wedding website with a simple sharing of the link. As a bride-to-be it saved me so much time and energy because I did not have to constantly repeat myself, and I could ensure that all of my guests were getting the same information from the same source. If something changed I could update it myself with just a few clicks and I did not have to worry about timely communication for a large group.
I hope you will utilize these resources in helping you stay organized and stress-free with streamlined communication while planning your wedding! If you would like to watch the corresponding YouTube video to this blog post click the link below!
