I met Makeva through the online pageant community! She has held multiple international titles and exudes confidence and charm. Makeva Armant-Muhammad, an esteemed educator and cultural advocate, hails from Maryland by way of New Orleans, Louisiana. She holds a Master of Arts in Intercultural Communication and a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Over the years, Makeva has distinguished herself as an adjunct professor at UMBC, a dedicated Teach for America Corps member, and a dynamic French and Spanish teacher at various esteemed institutions. Her expertise in language education is marked by her leadership in organizing significant cultural excursions, both domestically and internationally, including enriching study programs in Belgium, Paris, and Versailles.
In January of 2025, Makeva re-envisioned and re-launched Immersed Global Communication Cooperative, a pivotal platform designed to provide students in underserved communities with unparalleled access to global languages and cultures. This initiative underscored her commitment to enhancing global readiness among youth, which she passionately advocates for through her extensive pageantry career. As a veteran pageant queen with over a decade of experience and holder of three international titles, Makeva has utilized her platform to promote diversity and immersion in world languages and cultures under the banner #GetImmersed.
Adding to her prolific career, Makeva recently ventured into authorship with the children’s book series “Gabe’s First Adventures.” These stories are inspired by her son, Gabriel, as he travels with his entrepreneurial parents who are ardent believers in the power of experiential learning. The books are designed to entertain young readers while imparting lessons about different cultures and history. Each adventure is carefully crafted to spark curiosity and encourage a global perspective from the view of a toddler, embodying Makeva’s commitment to making cultural education accessible and engaging. A recent innovative venture by Makeva is the creation of Madame Armant’s Immersion Cities, a language immersion summer camp set to launch soon.
