Hi Queens! Let’s go over some characteristics of your feet to help you pick the perfect pageant heels that will be beautiful and comfortable. There are a variety of styles when it comes to pageant heels and the highest one is not always the best choice. The best choice will be based on a variety of details about your feet. And because everyone’s feet are different you want to pay attention to these details so that you can pick a pageant heel that will give your feet the best support. As y’all know, I have a dance background, and if you do too you will completely understand how all of these details play a role in your comfortability and walking technique as a pageant girl.
Foot arches
Pay attention to your arches girls! The higher the arches in your foot are, the higher your heels will need to be. The lower the arches in your foot are, the lower your heels will need to be. Arches in feet are formed over time. It is the very reason why girls who have been dancing for 10 plus years have super high arches, because dance technique has formed those arches over time. So if you are flat-footed or don’t have a super high arch, a higher heel is going to force the development of an arch upon your foot. Growing an arch is like a workout for your foot, so unless you have the time to practice in a higher heel and give your foot time to develop that arch, higher heels are going to be uncomfortable for you. This works the same for my girls with high arches. If you have a high arch and you’re wearing a lower heel, you will also be uncomfortable because your arch is not supported. So, the next time you are shopping for pageant heels make sure you are paying attention to how high the arch is in the shoe and that it is compatible with your own arch. Of course, if you are wanting to develop a higher arch or if your arch is flattening you can gradually work your way to heels that are higher or lower. For example, my arches were high before I got pregnant but during and after pregnancy my arches leveled out a bit. Now instead of wearing the 5 and 6 inch heels that I was used to, a 4 inch heel is most comfortable for my arch. I’m also now in my thirties and my body simply cannot hang the way it used to. Our bodies, including our feet will change over time and it is completely okay to make the necessary adjustments for comfortability and longevity.Â

Support of straps
When it comes to your pageant heels, you want to make sure that you are picking high heels that are secure in the straps and how they stay on your foot. You want to pay attention to the material of the straps, any buckles, and the give and flexibility that is offered to your ankle. Some girls feel more secure in heels that have a lot of straps and others like a sturdy strap across the ankles and toes. Some straps have a criss-cross design to secure them and some don’t. When you are trying on shoes pay attention to this so that you know the amount of security you need and how long it takes you to put the heels on. Although fashionable, some have intricate designs that can be a hassle so you want to think about that as well.
Heel height and thickness
Thick heel or skinny heel? 4 inches or 6? The height and thickness of your heel are obvious determinants of your pageant performance, yet girls still ignore their limits for the sake of conforming to traditional pageant standards. You do not have to wear a 6-in heel to be considered competitive. You do not have to have a skinny heel to impress the judges or the audience. What good is a 6-in designer heel if you cannot walk in it? Do not sacrifice your comfortability and confidence for the sake of trends, girlfriend. You need to wear the things that are the best option for your body. Be real with yourself, know your limits, and work within your limits to be the best that you can be. If you are new to walking in heels, start with a 4 inch heel instead of going immediately for the 6 inch. If you are a plus size contestant and feel more supported in a thicker heel, then wear the thicker heel. When you are picking out your pageant heels go with the heel height and thickness that works for you according to your current walking ability, and master that with a walking coach.
Always practice in your shoes
Practice makes confidence. Once you find your perfect pair of pageant heels that are comfortable on your arches, easy to secure and offer you the right amount of support, and are the perfect height and heel thickness, it is time for you to put it all together and walk in your heels as much as possible. As in dance, a pageant girl must become one with her heels in order to deliver the confidence and stage presence needed to slay the stage and captivate the audience and the judges. I hope this blog post has brought you one step closer to finding your perfect pair of pageant heels or has given you more assurance in the perfect pair that you already have!
