Welcome queens! Here, I like to celebrate the beauty and grace of pageantry! In this post I will dive into the captivating world of pageant shoes, exploring their significance, style, and everything you need to know to make a statement with your footwear. Whether you are a seasoned pageant competitor or just beginning your journey, choosing the perfect pair of shoes is an essential part of creating a winning presentation. So let’s take a step forward and discover the enchanting realm of pageant shoes!
When it comes to pageant shoes, one size does not fit all. Each pageant has its own style and requirements, which means finding the perfect pair requires careful consideration. From platform heels to strappy sandals, there is a wide range of options to choose from. The key is to find a pair that complements your wardrobe and skintone, enhances your posture, and is comfortable for the long hours onstage and in rehearsals.
No excessive shoes:
A true queen is intentional in all things and this includes your wardrobe. There is no need to have a pair of shoes for every category of competition and there is no need to have multiple shoes for varying shades of silver, gold, and metallics. Less is truly more and adopting this mindset will not only help you in your pageant shoe game, but it will also impact your packing strategy in the most positive way. I recommend four pairs of pageant shoes: a pair for on stage, a pair for interview, and an identical backup of both. Obviously this can expand as you compete on higher levels, but this rule has served me well through the national level. Narrowing your array of pageant shoes will allow you to practice in the same shoe more, and therefore perfecting your posture, poise, and walking technique in that particular shoe.
No borrowing shoes:
Although this is a tempting and affordable option, it is a big no-no because no two feet are the same, not even your own two feet. Some girls are flat-footed, some girls have high arches, some girls have long toes, some girls have short toes, some girls have fatter ankles than others. All of these details about your feet affect how shoes and high heels fit you. If you are a girl with flat feet but you borrow shoes from a girl who has high arches and has been a ballet dancer for the past 10 years, her shoes are going to be very uncomfortable on you and vice versa. So while borrowing wardrobe is more acceptable, it is riskier to borrow shoes and a much better investment to purchase your own and practice in them so that they mold to your feet and give you the best possible chance of having good stage presence and all around good poise for the pageant competition.

Don’t wear your shoes out:
You don’t wear your evening gown out in the everyday world, so you shouldn’t wear your pageant shoes out in the everyday world. Preservation and ROI are very important and often overlooked in pageantry. If you take care of your things, they will last a long time and if and when you’re ready to sell them you can get a good price for them. So preserve your pageant shoes as much as possible and only wear them for competition purposes. This will keep them in good condition and allow you to wear them on many stages.
Go nude:
As I stated before, having excessive shoes in all the colors for every piece of wardrobe is unnecessary. Instead, get your pageant shoes in your skintone nude or clear. Implementing this tip gives you one less thing to worry about in wardrobe changes and one less thing to think about when packing. Having items in colors and styles that are universal and pleasing no matter the season or the trends is always helpful and positively contributes to your productivity, organization, and styling as a queen.
Practice:
Practice makes a queen! If you don’t practice walking in your shoes then you cannot expect to have a fierce walk onstage. Your shoes are just as important as your dress and everything else that you have to prepare for. Practice in your shoes and give yourself ample time to do so. Do not order shoes at the last minute. Do not switch shoes too close to your pageant. Do practice walking around in your shoes in addition to sessions with your walking coach. Do practice walking on various surfaces.
As you embark on your pageant journey, keep in mind that pageant shoes are more than just fashionable footwear. They are an integral part of your overall presentation, amplifying your elegance and charisma. By selecting the perfect pair, you can stride with confidence and captivate the audience with every step.
